A Fun Family Vacation in the Desert Southwest in Arizona

Phoenix AZ is known for its beautiful weather and open spaces to roam about. The cooler winter months will make you want to become a snowbird permanently. For those who don’t know, a snowbird is somebody who lives in cooler regions of the country for most of the year, but vacations or lives in places like Phoenix during the winter.

Phoenix is definitely perfect for outdoor activities in the fall and winter, but even the summers are very nice. Is it hot? It certainly can be with average high temperatures in July reaching 106 degrees and lows of 83 degrees. However, Phoenix has a dry heat (high temps but low humidity) that many say is much more comfortable than higher humidity regions.

There are also more reasons to be in the Phoenix metro area during the summer. You can find great deals at amusement parks, resorts, golf courses, and many other venues! Summer is the perfect time to find deep discounts because it’s considered the non-peak season. Fun for the entire family is easy to find. As a parent, I have to plan every vacation around not only my wife and me but our children as well. To find a single destination that’s great for children while providing fun for adults is a must.

One incredible place to find summer values and fun is the Arizona Grand Resort. Built into the base of South Mountain, the AZ Grand Resort has the finest amenities to pamper your every need and desire. This is truly a one-stop destination for the whole family to enjoy.

AZ Grand Hotel Resort

The Spanish style architecture is charming and very fitting to the history of Arizona. The rooms are luxurious, spacious, and clean. As wonderful as the rooms are, you probably won’t want to stay in them for long because there’s so much to do right on the resort grounds. For the golfer, the Arizona Grand Resort has an award-winning 18-hole course that is challenging for the more experienced golfer while still enjoyable for those new to the game. They even offer rental clubs and lessons. This is a great opportunity to teach your son or daughter how to play. Practice at the complimentary hitting range to warm up. Then head up to the clubhouse for your scheduled tee time. The first tee box is located on a small peninsula surrounded by the outdoor patio of The Lobby Grill restaurant on one side, and beautiful guest villas on the other.

Here’s something the kids will absolutely love. The AZ Grand Resort has an amazing water park that was voted one of the top 10 water parks in the country, according to the Travel Channel. The Oasis Water Park sits on a total of seven acres and includes an 8-story high water slide, a lazy river, wave pool and splash area for younger children. This park is available to guests only so you don’t have to worry about over-crowding here.

Rustler’s Roost

If you’re in the mood for being pampered, you’ll also find spa amenities to spoil you from head to toe. Start with a massage then receive a manicure and pedicure to look your best for a special dinner at the Rustler’s Roost.

The Rustler’s Roost sits high above the resort and provides some of the best views to be found in the Phoenix area. Fine dining at this grill has everything from choice steaks to pork chops, and even fried chicken. There’s also a full-grown bull right by the front entrance to greet you as you enter. Talk about an authentic western experience! You can even slide down to your table from the upstairs level to the ground floor with a slide right next to the stairway. I bet the kids have never gone down a slide to get to the dinner table.

Phoenix has all the right ingredients to make this a perfect family destination. Everything from the weather, the championship golf course, to the water parks are one of a kind. You’ll find great deals during the summer months and will make memories that will last a lifetime.
